2020 Conference Update

Due to the continuing world situation and travel difficulties due to Covid-19, Khuloud and I (Romy) have made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person PSUG Middle East & Africa conference in Jordan that was planned for October 2020. Anybody whose registration fee was still pending will be refunded by the end of September.

We will still hold a small virtual meeting of the PSUG on the morning of October 28th to connect with any new members, discuss topics submitted by members, and share support and experiences, but it will not have a formal training component. A signup link will be sent out at the beginning of October for this virtual meeting.

For PowerSchool training this fall, we recommend registering instead for one of the two Virtual PSUG Academies organized by the PSUG Events group:

September Virtual Academy
September 28-30

November Virtual Academy
November 9-11

Thanks for your understanding, stay healthy and safe!

2020 Conference – New Dates

Mark your calendars! We are pleased to announce that the 2020 PSUG MEA Conference has been rescheduled to:

October 28-30, 2020
American Community School
Amman, Jordan

Details for the new round of registration will be sent out to the full PSUG MEA mailing list and published here around mid-April, once the dust has settled a little bit. 🙂

2020 Conference Postponed

Due to the worsening of the global spread of COVID-19 in the last 48 hours, and following discussions with the leadership of ACS Amman yesterday, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the PSUG Amman conference until fall 2020 (dates TBD).

Registered attendees have been contacted directly.  More information will be published here when we have the new dates for the fall.

Stay healthy!

2019 Conference Summary

30 attendees from 12 schools across 8 countries in the Middle East and Africa gathered on March 8-10, 2019 in Beirut, Lebanon for the fourth annual PowerSchool Users’ Group Middle East Conference. Three days of sessions were offered by our expert presenters in the areas of scheduling, customization, general system administration, and much more for all levels from beginner to advanced. Attendees also had the opportunity to work with trainers one-on-one during Open Lab time to get their questions and problems answered as necessary. On Saturday evening, the group enjoyed a walking tour of historical Downtown Beirut and a delicious Arabic dinner on Zaitunay Bay.

Many thanks once again to everyone involved in this excellent event! From our generous sponsors PowerSchool LLC and Ahmad Jawad / intellimedia, to the amazing presenters, to everyone at our wonderful host school International College, and to the attendees who shared your experience and knowledge with one another in building up this community of learners – our most heartfelt gratitude! It was a pleasure to get to know you and we hope to see you again at many more events in the future.

Mark your calendars for PSUG Middle East & Africa 2020!

2019 Conference – Registration Open!

Hello PowerSchool Users and Schools,

I’m pleased to announce that with the generous support of intellimedia, registration for the upcoming PowerSchool Users Group (PSUG) Middle East/Africa Conference is open!

March 8-10, 2019 at International College, Beirut, Lebanon

Early-bird registration fee is USD 590 until January 18th, USD 670 thereafter until the February 18th deadline. See the following links for more information about the host school, accommodation, presenters, and general schedule.

This three-day event on International College’s beautiful campus will be an excellent opportunity to increase your PowerSchool knowledge, share resources, get questions answered, and network with counterparts at other schools. We will have a variety of excellent sessions at different levels from experts: Roger Sprik, a well-known contributor, customizer, and trainer in the PowerSchool world, scheduling guru Greg Satterwhite, who has more than 10 years of experience working with PowerSchool in international schools, and Romy Backus, PowerSchool system administration expert and Student Information System Specialist at the American School of Dubai. A fourth trainer will be added soon, and we are hopeful that Jason Springel (PowerSchool Evangelist) will be able to attend again this year as well.

All PowerSchool users and schools are welcome, from both the Middle East and further afield.

For insight into the types and content of sessions offered in the past at this event, please reference the 2018 Session Catalog. A detailed session schedule and sign-up for the 2019 event will be sent in February closer to the conference dates. Since this is a relatively small event, session offerings will be tailored to the needs and roles of the attendees. If you are planning to attend, please register early and be as descriptive as possible on the registration form with what you hope to learn, and every effort will be made to accommodate those needs in this year’s sessions and curriculum.

Please let us know if you have any questions at all. We hope many of you can attend and look forward seeing you in March!
